Pre-weekend weekend lunch invite 30. Seems like a nonillion years ago we started this (quintillion for you Anglophiles)

Since we're looking at rain again (maybe/maybe not) for Saturday, I'll start with movies again. I saw "Dick" for movies last week, so I've yet to see "The Iron Giant", "The Sixth Sense", and most probably "Mystery Men". The cream of the crop for opening movies this weekend seems to be "Bowfinger" and "Detroit Rock City"--maybe not either one.

Tonight I'll be at Buffalo to see Weird Al (yah!) which pretty much wraps up "Super Music Fortnight" for me. I generally don't see live music, but I'll have seen at least 7 acts on 4 nights in the past two weeks. Then I'll be done for the year. :-)

I'll keep the list a bit light this week--Friday is "Carrie" at the Dryden (8pm); Saturday and Sunday is the [relatively expensive--$17 in advance/$20 at the door] Brewers Festival at High Falls.

Sunday is also dueling corn weekend; a battle of east and west; a battle of terminology. Burnap's Farm is hosting the Corn Festival, and Pine Hill Orchards is hosting the Sweet Corn Festival. Ok, so Burnap's is in Sodus and Pine Hill is in Albion and since they don't have modern communication systems in either area it's possible it's not really a battle.

The part that isn't very new follows:

For the last few months I've been having lunch at O'Bagelo's on State Street on Saturday at 11:30. The same people who have been going have been coming back, so I guess I'm not on crack about the food being good.

I'll be there at 11:30. For the few of you who haven't been there, it's on State Street between the Federal Building and Frontier Field. It's south of 490 and north of Andrews on the west side of the street (i.e., across from West Group on the east side.) Their sign is flush against the building so it's a little hard to see unless you're looking. They've got a variety of sandwiches on bagels, fresh bread or fresh rolls, and some soups. There are some veggie stuff too, but sometimes they don't make the fried eggplant very early.

Anyhow, RSVP, call, e-mail, or just show up.
