Un condamné à mort s'est échappé (A Man Escaped) screening

2017-Mar-23 @ 19:30 - 21:09

The Dryden will screen the emotionally tense thriller Un condamné à mort s'est échappé (A Man Escaped, Robert Bresson, France 1956, 99 min., 35mm, French w/subtitles) as part of the 12 Postcards from Prison series.

An unceasingly tense thriller, A Man Escaped draws upon French Resistance hero André Devigny's autobiographical book and Robert Bresson's own experiences as a Pow. Captured and sent to solitary confinement by the Nazis, French Resistance officer Fontaine slowly and methodically plans his escape, his every move marking the difference between life and death. A work of metaphysical suspense and resolute beauty, A Man Escaped is a genuinely moving encounter with limits and the will to transcend them.
