The Dead Zone screening
2016-Oct-29 @ 20:00 - 21:43
The Dryden will screen The Dead Zone (David Cronenberg, U.S. 1983, 103 min., DCP).
Democracy has never been as dangerous as when Johnny Smith (Christopher Walken) touched the hand of politician Greg Stillson (Martin Sheen) and received a vision of the apocalypse. As a result of a car accident and extended coma, Johnny is left with the ability to see the future. Originally seen as a gift that will allow him to save innocent lives, the ability becomes a curse of social responsibility that distances him from the rest of humanity. Based on the novel by Stephen King, this chilling film is often cited as the apex of his adapted work, as well as the apex of the work of Walken and Cronenberg.
