It is said that climate change disproportionately affects the poor and people of color – those in front line communities. How? It is said that climate change is an issue of human rights and environmental justice. If we care about climate change, why should we also care about issues of inequality? If we care about issues of inequality, why should we also care about climate change? In a nation steeped in generations of racial injustice and in our city that leads the nation in segregation, can people of different races and classes come together to work effectively on climate change And on problems of race and class? What would an effective "environmental justice" movement look like in Rochester?
