Purple Rain screening (2017-Jun-10 @ 7 p.m.)
2017-Jun-10 @ 19:00 - 20:51
The Little will screen Purple Rain (Albert Magnoli, U.S. 1994, 111 min.)
Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to give to this thing called Purple Rain. Released in 1984, Albert Magnoli's pseudo-biopic introduced audiences to the Minneapolis music scene and the royal subject who presided over it. Prince burst upon the screen riding a motorcycle and a purple-tinted wave of popularity. He came to play his music loud, scream his lyrics and seduce with impunity. In Purple Rain, Prince plays "The Kid", an angry Minneapolis musician on the rise with his band, the Revolution, escaping a tumultuous home life through music. While trying to avoid making the same mistakes as his truculent father, the Kid navigates the club scene and a rocky relationship with a captivating singer. But another musician, (Morris Day), looks to steal the Kid's spotlight — and his girl.
