The Dryden will screen One from the Heart (Francis Ford Coppola, U.S. 1981, 98 min., 35mm) as part of the Vittorio Storaro series.

In a stunning change of pace, Francis Ford Coppola followed his jungle epic Apocalypse Now with this charming, candy-colored love story, a Las Vegas-set fantasia shot entirely on the soundstages of Zoetrope Studios with songs by Tom Waits. A costly box-office disappointment, this visionary film is now considered to be one of the most influential post-modern works of its era, and an obvious precursor to films like Moulin Rouge!
