The Dryden will screen On Her Majesty's Secret Service (Peter Hunt, U.K. 1969, 142 min., 35mm) as part of the Holidays series.

Departing from series continuity and starring fresh-faced model George Lazenby in his only appearance as Agent 007, On Her Majesty's Secret Service is often viewed as the oddball stepsister of the Bond franchise. Under-watched and underappreciated even by aficionados, it also happens to be the greatest of all Bond films. Lazenby portrays the most sensitive, sympathetic, and self-aware version of the super spy, and Diana Rigg elevates the Bond girl role to emotional heights since unequaled. The filmmaking by Peter Hunt, in his directorial debut, is varied and exquisite, and series composer John Barry delivers his most indispensable Bond score. Shot largely on location in the Swiss Alps, the film is imbued with an unexpected sense of Christmas cheer.
