Idiocracy is a 2006 comedy produced and directed by Mike Judge, the creator of "Beavis and Butthead." The film's story is about an ordinary person who gets frozen for 500 years in a military experiment and wakes up to an America run by mindless consumerism. The film was squelched immediately upon its release for shedding a negative light on corporate America. It initially opened in only seven cities and was never aired on network TV. It became a cult favorite after being released on Dvd but still ended up in the bargain bin. The film is getting renewed scrutiny today in light of the Trump candidacy and dysfunctional congress.
