Nazi Violence is Not Welcome Here
2017-Aug-27 @ 13:00 - 15:00
Since the election of Trump, the far-right has been emboldened, calling gatherings of violence and hate. These gatherings pose a grave threat, especially in light of the murder of anti-racist activist Heather Heyer by a neo-Nazi in Charlottesville on August 12th. Heyer is one of a growing list of people who have been recently murdered. In June, Ricky John Best and Taliesin Myrddin Namkai-Meche were murdered when they intervened to stop a white racist from harassing two young Black women on a train in Portland, Oregon. In May, African-American student Richard W. Collins III was murdered by a neo-Nazi on the University of Maryland campus. There has been a national call to demonstrate in solidarity with Charlottesville, San Francisco, Berkeley, Boston, and all other locations targeted by white supremacists. This includes Fairport, where Richard Bradt was recently attacked by Robert Sayer, who was reported to have attended the fascist rally in Charlottesville, Va. We will not tolerate our community living in fear of racist, fascist violence. We must stand together and confront these far-right individuals and groups and make them understand that the vast majority of our community does not stand for this racism and hatred. We must come together in vast numbers, like what just happened in Boston, that their violence and hatred are not welcome here!
