Guys and Dolls screening
2017-Jun-02 @ 19:30 - 22:00
The Dryden will screen Guys and Dolls (Joseph L. Mankiewicz, U.S. 1955, 150 min., 35mm).
Marlon Brando and Frank Sinatra are the incorrigible gamblers Sky Masterson and Nathan Detroit who involve each other in a complicated plot to maintain "The Oldest Established Permanent Floating Crap Game in New York." The Frank Loesser/Damon Runyon musical classic became one of the best Broadway-to-screen adaptations ever when filmed by master director Mankiewicz in glorious color and Cinemascope. Highlights include Stubby Kaye's rendition of "Sit Down, You're Rocking the Boat" and Brando singing "Luck Be a Lady Tonight."
