Gone With the Wind screening
2018-Jan-06 @ 19:30 - 23:28
The Dryden will screen Gone With the Wind (Victor Fleming, U.S. 1939, 238 min., 35mm) as part of the Academy Awards at 90 series.
Winner of ten Academy Awards, Gone With the Wind was David O. Selznick's personal triumph over multitudinous production problems including budget overruns, script changes, director replacements, censor objections, and his inability to find a Scarlett O'Hara. None of that shows on the screen. Vivien Leigh's Scarlett triumphantly carries the film, while surrounded by the impeccable work of Clark Gable, Olivia de Havilland, Leslie Howard, and Hattie McDaniel. With its stellar cast, sweeping score, and astonishing Technicolor photography, this classic Civil War story should be experienced on the big screen, on film.
