Contact screening
2017-Feb-09 @ 19:30 - 22:00
The Dryden will screen Contact (Robert Zemeckis, U.S. 1997, 150 min., 35mm) as part of the First Contact series.
Based on the novel by astrophysicist Carl Sagan, Contact is a thoughtful, philosophical exploration of what an encounter with an extraterrestrial intelligence might be like. The film is notable for its groundbreaking special effects work; at the time, the opening sequence was the longest computer-generated effect ever made for a live-action film, and it remains impressive today.
