2017-Oct-10 @ 12:12 - 12:52

Free

In the Kate Gleason Auditorium of the Bausch and Lomb Library Building, William Destler will present a Books Sandwiched-In review of The death of expertise : the campaign against established knowledge and why it matters by Tom Nichols

People are now exposed to more information than ever before, provided both by technology and by increasing access to every level of education. Nichols asserts that with internet sites such as Webmd and Wikipedia; a news industry that has become a 24-hour entertainment MacHine; and "content" that refers to everything from social media posts to proven scientific theories, we are experiencing a "rejection of experts."
