Books Sandwiched In: Jeff Spevak review of "Reckless daughter : a portrait of Joni Mitchell" by David Yaffe

2018-Mar-27 @ 12:12 - 12:52

In the Kate Gleason Auditorium of the Bausch and Lomb Library Building, Jeff Spevak will present a Books Sandwiched In review of Reckless daughter : a portrait of Joni Mitchell by David Yaffe

Music critic David Yaffe tells the remarkable, heart-wrenching story of how Canadian singer-songwriter Roberta Joan 'Joni' Mitchell became a superstar of folk music in the 1960s, a key figure in the Laurel Canyon music scene of the 1970s, and an artist who helped define an era and a generation. Rolling Stone called Mitchell "one of the greatest songwriters ever" and her 1971 album "Blue" is often cited as one of the best albums of all time. Mitchell was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 44th Annual Grammy Awards in 2002.
