Secular Organization for Sobriety (SOS)
2017-Jun-22 @ 19:00 - 21:00
This is a once-weekly meeting for those interested in discussing their own path to sobriety. SOS is a national organization that currently hosts two weekly meetings in Rochester, but these meetings are not always safe spaces for marginalized people. This is a new meeting at Flying Squirrel in order to give marginalized people a safe space to discuss their sobriety, once weekly, with a group of like-minded people. One of the biggest differences between how SOS functions and other sobriety groups is its lack of structure. There is an introduction read as well as a list of six suggested guidelines, but then the floor is open for any person to discuss the challenges they face in their sobriety. This lack of structure is intended to welcome healthy skepticism and raise the discussion to a place where we are each guiding our own sobriety plan. No -isms, and no hate welcome in this space.
