In the Rundel Auditorium on the 3rd floor of the Rundel Memorial Building is a Rochester's Rich History lecture by Peter Scribner titled From Flapper on Stage to Shakespeare at the Bowl: 93 Years of Rochester Community Players History.

Come hear Peter Scribner, president of the Rochester Community Players, talk about the evolution of the theater group from the 1920's to the present day. Founded in the age of flappers, the Rochester Community Players trace an arc of local theater history: its beginning as a hobby project of the socially prominent; the challenges of producing plays through the Depression Era and World War II; the competition of new-fangled television in the 1950's, and the generational clashes of the 1960's; managing the transition from Rochester's premiere theater to a much more modest niche, and finally rebirth as a Shakespeare organization. How did a community performing arts company in Rochester survive and adapt through decades of leadership changes, cultural upheavals, and artistic shifts while retaining its core mission and its soul?
