Ok, to hell with it, at least for a while. Amy's Comedy Cellar at 7:30 will once again be at Christian's Cafe in Village Gate Square (274 N. Goodman St.) Sondra and I have been going almost every week since its onset, but progress toward greatness is just too darn slow. Last week I was sitting there thinking I'd rather be (1) watching jazz outside, (2) back at California Rollin', (3) watching Crumb at the Dryden Theater, or (4) simply anywhere else. This week will be different. Of course, sushi and sake beforehand at California Rollin' will simply precede something else.

For those who are looking to see "real" stand-up comedy, Dom Irrera with Jamie Lissow and Ralph Tetta will be at Comix Cafe (3450 Winton Pl.) There'll be shows at 8 and 10:45 tonight and tomorrow.

Last week I saw Better Days open for Johnny Vegas at Milestones. This week Better Days will be on their own at Shorts (35 N. Main St., Fairport) FYI, they're a solid cover band and the lead singer can do a dead-on Steve Page from Barenaked Ladies.

Also, Stop Kiss continues this week at Geva Theatre NextStage (75 Woodbury Blvd.)

Karaoke with Sugar Bear at Boston Brew Company (251 Exchange Blvd.)

O'Bagelo's, 165 State Street, noon.

Later at Monty's Krown (875 Monroe Ave.) is Mulada.

Perhaps before the latenight stuff, you can catch the Hitchcock classic Strangers on a Train at the Dryden Theater at George Eastman House (900 East Ave.)

If you're lucky enough and interested enough, Ben Folds Five will be at the Clark Gym at RIT (One Lomb Memorial Dr.) at 8:00 p.m.

In the good-band-names-but-haven't-heard-them is Peachy Neeche with their Diva Show featuring 25 guest female vocalists at the Bug Jar (219 Monroe Ave.) Now I don't know about anybody else, but the word diva has sort of taken on a different ... uhh ... connotation in recent years, so I'm not exactly sure what "female" is referring to.

If you thoroughly fear getting good deals on the Internet, perhaps you'd prefer browsing the Market Pro Computer Show & Sale at The Dome Center (E. Henrietta Rd. and Calkins Rd.)

  • Futurama: The Deep South - When the ship sinks during a fishing trip, leaking caffeine spawns a civilization of mermaids and mermen.
  • King of the Hill: Meet the Propaniacs - When Hank runs out of propane during a summer barbecue, Bobby entertains the famished crowd with jokes about propane.
  • Simpsons: Little Big Mom - While Marge convalesces in the hospital, Lisa plays an implacable mother to Homer and Bart.
  • Malcolm in the Middle: Cheerleader - Following Malcolm's advice, Reese joins the cheerleading squad to impress the object of his affection.

The Nuts & Bolts Improv Troupe will again be at Club Vibes (150 Andrews St.) at 8:00 p.m. It's $5 to get in and it's way totally worth it.

Dan Liberto hosts his Open Mic Comedy Night at Froggy's Bar & Grill (1129 Empire Blvd.)

Wednesday Morning 3am
What are you doing at 3:00 a.m.?

wondering why you stayed out so late
trying to get Barenaked Ladies "The Old Apartment" out of your head
leaving your lights off and seeing if you can see what your neighbors are up to
surrendering to infomercials
letting your mind race in an uncontrollable frenzy
shopping for a mail-order spouse
planning your escape
wondering what that noise was
dancing your ass ass off
